What relative AI exposure means
Relative AI exposure describes how much an occupation's tasks may intersect with AI-related capabilities. It helps frame questions about work content; it does not predict an individual worker's outcome.
Start with the category
The BLS category is a relative signal across occupations. It can help you ask which tasks involve information processing, language, analysis, or other capabilities that AI tools may affect.
Keep the limits in view
Exposure is not a probability of automation, worker replacement, employment decline, wage decline, or productivity growth. It also does not distinguish augmentation from automation.
Pair it with occupation evidence
Read exposure alongside projected employment, tasks, skills, preparation, and work context. Those measures answer different questions and should not be collapsed into one risk score.
