For firefighters, some of AI's most useful contributions can happen before anyone enters a dangerous environment. Systems can combine dispatch information, maps, building data, weather, sensor readings, camera feeds, and historical incidents to help crews understand what they may encounter.

Better situational awareness has real value

A command team might receive quicker information about building layout, hazardous materials, wildfire movement, changing wind, or areas detected as unusually hot. Drones and robotic systems can also inspect locations that would otherwise expose firefighters to additional risk.
